2018 Word of the Year

Fresh beginnings. While there’s nothing magical about the start of a new year, there is something that makes you feel especially reflective. And for Craig and I, we had quite a bit to reflect on.

2017 was quite the incredible journey. Coming out of a season of mourning and heartache after we lost our baby girl, we dove into 2017 with a renewed sense of adventure. We wanted to take some risks, chase a few dreams, not in spite of losing Emma Rose, but because of her. She taught us that life was was short and should be lived fully and wholly.

And so, that’s exactly what we did.

We threw caution to the wind last year. From living in Orlando to our impromptu six months in Washington, D.C. to our move up the east coast to New England — and we thrived in the unknown.

Reflecting on the previous year, Craig and I were perfectly in tune — while 2017 may have been an adventure, we’re finally ready to put down roots, to grow, to build. So, for us, 2018 will be the year of “stability.”

sta·bil·i·ty
stəˈbilədē
noun
: the quality, state, or degree of being stable.
: the strength to stand or endure.

I know, “stability” isn’t exactly the most exciting word to choose. But for us, it’s so full of meaning. 2018 will be a year of growth, and sometimes, growth hurts a little. Our dream is a simple one — to start our family, to buy a house, to be healthy and free from debt — though I know it will take a few sacrifices to get there.

As the dictionary definition of “stability” says, it takes strength to stand firm, put down roots, and experience growth.

The past few years have brought hardships and joy, important lessons and new dreams. Most importantly, they’ve brought clarity to dreams and insight into where we’re headed. And, friends — I just can’t wait to see what this new year brings.

  • Something you might not know about me...
✨
I share a ton about my health and wellness journey, but I also am a HUGE home decor lover!
✨
I’m obsessed with pinning gorgeous homes, browsing the aisles of Home Goods, and tweaking the decor in my home!
✨
Now it’s your turn — what’s one thing Instagram might not know about you? 💖

It was an insanely long day celebrating and learning and sweating with my girls at today’s coaching event. And then my afternoon and evening were spent getting clients set up for our Fit Club that kicks off the week. But you know what’s amazing? 😴
—
I might be exhausted but man my heart is filled to the brim. With gratitude, excitement, and dreams for what’s yet to come. 💗

After a good night’s sleep, I’m comin’ after ya, 2019! ✨
  • Want in on a secret? 🗣👀

The sweaty selfies I share might seem glamorous and those endorphins after burning a few hundred calories are no joke — but the truth? Working out is freaking HARD. 💦😱
—
I’ve been doing this jam almost daily for the past year — and it’s still just as hard as the day I started.
—
“Wait, but isn’t it supposed to get easier?!” — Probably you right now ⁉️
—
You might have heard that, but THIS hard that I’m talking about is different. ✨
—
I can push myself + overcome challenges BECAUSE it’s hard. It’s cliche, sure, but the saying is still true — if it were easy, everyone would do it. 🙌

It’s okay to take pride in your appearance.
It’s okay to want to lose weight.
It’s okay to want to pass on the donuts in the break room.
It’s okay to want to build muscle and look lean.
It’s okay to want to change the way you look.
It’s okay to want to put your health first.
—
For so long, I hid behind my overweight frame and “embraced it” in the name of “self love” — but the reality? I was freaking MISERABLE.
—
Self love isn’t just looking in the mirror and loving your rolls and stretch marks (though I’m proud to bear my tiger stripes as reminders of my journey)...
—
Self love is loving yourself enough to put your health first, and loving yourself for being strong enough to make that tough decision.
—
So if you want to lose weight, gain weight, tone up, or lean down — I’ll be your BIGGEST CHEERLEADER.
—
Because no matter where you are or where you’re going, you’re beautiful and deserve to be your best self ❤️
