6 Faux Fireplace Styles to Create the Perfect Focal Point

June 3, 2017

In my last post, I mentioned our very first house that we lived in after Craig and I got married. A quaint, little farmhouse nestled in between cornfields, our year in Ohio was quite the adventure. I’ll be the first to admit that while our home had some unique character, it was definitely in rough shape. The one saving grace that became my absolute favorite part of the entire house? The living room fireplace.

There’s something about the perfect fireplace that makes a room feel so incredibly cozy. It draws you in, creates a natural focal point, and makes it the perfect place to gather around with family and friends.

Since transitioning from our season in rural Ohio to living the apartment life in the city, I’ve sorely missed having a fireplace. While functional fireplaces that heat a room are wonderful, it’s been the charm that I’ve missed the most.

As I seek out inspiration to turn our big city apartment into a farmhouse haven, I’ve fallen head-over-heels for this easy, simple way to create a room’s focal point – faux fireplaces! These are just a few styles that I adore and hope to use as inspiration in our own home.

1.) Rustic Farmhouse

This lovely mantel was featured over at Liz Marie Blog – and boy, I am swooning over this beauty! The white distressed style of this mantel complements the farmhouse-style perfectly as the centerpiece of this lovely room. Instant appeal, and instant eye-catcher!

2. Intricate & Detailed

Recognize this lovely piece from anywhere? You guessed it – Mrs. Joanna Gaines herself styled this piece for one of her Fixer Upper clients! Even master bedrooms have focal points, and this beautiful faux fireplace does a wonderful job at drawing you in with all of its intricate details.

3. Delicate & Distressed

I absolutely adore this mantel that was featured on Interiorholic. The simplicity of this piece accented by a few colorful pieces of decor and a slightly battered look are the perfect balance. It becomes the perfect center point of the room and yet light and delicate.

4. Shiplap & Traditional

The shiplap craze is real, y’all! In its most basic form, shiplap is simply wooden boards commonly used in historic homes. It adds instant depth and character to even the plainest of rooms. In this case featured over on Kate Creative Space, the shiplap combined with the traditional faux fireplace creates a warm focal point.

5. Simple Wood Details

This lovely mantel from Petite Party Studio made a very important point – mantels are the perfect spot for hanging stockings at Christmas time! The perfect focal point of the room, the geometric lines in this mantel combined with the simple wood pattern make for a beautiful, timeless piece any time of the year.

6. Delicate 20th Century

I’m a sucker for most everything early 20th century – which is why this lovely faux fireplace featured on Wedding Chicks captured my heart! The beautiful details combined with an abundance of candles and a few unique pieces create a perfect, delicate look.

How do you feel about faux fireplaces? Which of these styles was your favorite?
